Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs spoke up on the vision of the team without Tyreek Hill.
Patrick Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL at present, his connection with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce had made the Chiefs one of the most lethal offensive teams of all time.
The Kansas City Chiefs headed into every season as the favorites to win it all due to the talent on their roster, specifically on the offensive end, but that will not be the case in the upcoming season. The Chiefs were forced to trade away their star Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins after the contract talks between the two parties didn’t come to a settlement.
This came as a shock to everyone around the world, as nobody saw it coming. The friendship between Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill both on and off the field was very good, and both the players were hurt following the departure of the WR to the Dolphins.
Talking about the departure of Hill to the Dolphins, Mahomes said, “Obviously my initial reaction was a little bit of shock, Even though I knew this was a possibility, he’s a guy that we’ve built a friendship with over the last six years.”
He added, “You didn’t want him to leave, more just for the being able to hang out in the locker room and do that stuff more than just the on-the-field stuff. But you’re happy for him, he got a great contract and he’s back where he has a house in the offseason, he’s around a lot of his family. I wish the best for him.”
“We have to keep evolving, keep getting better.”- Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes, however, is ready for life without Tyreek Hill as he thinks that the team can adapt to the situation and utilize other players’ strengths in order to get success in the future.
Mahomes said, “We’ve got to keep rolling, that’s how it is in this league, It’s a business as much as it is about your friendships and stuff like that.”
He added, “We know that to keep having success in this league, we have to keep evolving, keep getting better. I got with these new receivers to try and build that as quickly as possible so we can have success right when we get going this year.”
Patrick Mahomes has full trust in his coaching staff and other players who will definitely step up in the absence of Tyreek Hill, as he said, “It is definitely going to be different in a sense, but I feel like we still have a strong foundation of guys that have been here over the last few years, Then with coach Andy Reid, coach Eric Bieniemy and then having a guy like coach Matt Nagy back, he’s someone that I’ve worked with before, so I have that commonality.”
“I don’t think it will be significantly different,”- Andy Reid on the Chiefs offense next season
The head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid has already laid plans on how his team will play in the next season without Tyreek Hill. Tyreek was the most lethal weapon of the Chiefs, and his absence is going to be felt but the team is already ready to move on from him.
Andy Reid talked about the plans for the upcoming season and said, “I don’t think it will be significantly different, It will be similar to what we did in games that Tyreek couldn’t play in.”
He added, “There were certain things that he did very well that we’ll have people try to fill in those spots without forcing anything. What we normally do on this is we try to play to the players’ strengths the best we can, so we’ll see with some of the new guys, see what they can do. And then we’ll work around that.”
