“Patrick Mahomes was sensational” – Stephen A Smith liked what he saw from the Chiefs Quarterback in Week 1

Patrick Mahomes was unarguably the most criticized Quarterback entering the 2022-23 season. But just after the first showdown, he has managed to rank amongst the favorties to win the MVP accolade. That’s the magic of this former MVP and Kansas City Chiefs’ marquee.

Patrick Mahomes

Having completed 30-of39 passes attempts for 360 yards against the Arizona Cardinals, Patrick Mahomes left out a statement to why he should never be undervalued. Moreover, Mahomes accrued a 144.2 passer rating, which was interestingly the highest of any Quarterback in Week 1 by a huge margin. It is safe to say, that Patric Mahomes oozed with confidence with every successive throw to show just why he is possibly the greatest ever QB to play the game.

Stephen A Smith said, “Patrick Mahomes was sensation with 30-of-39. He went for 360 yards, 5 TouchDowns, not a single interception…Travis Kelce was their dude and was their most reliable target.”

Can Patrick Mahomes finally clinch MVP honors?

Not only did Mahomes lead his team, but he even marches the offense up and down the field during any of the team’s seven scoring drives. It was evident that the Kansas City Chiefs QB was feeling himself to open the season in wild fashion.

Unlike the last time around the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Mahomes looked confidence in delivering his passes. Moreover, his spread and precision were key in giving Chiefs the added advantage over Cardinals. The opposition blitzed on 24 of Mahomes’ 41 dropbacks in the game. The Kansas City QB countered with 16 completions on 23 attempts on those spoken off snaps. What’s even more impressive? He wasn’t even sacked once.

That being said, Mahomes is already on the verge of repeating his MVP heroics (if we go by the action in Week 1). But given that it is important to see how Patrick Mahomes is able to build upon his brilliant start, this season is surely going to be an exciting one for Tyreek Hill less Chiefs.
