With Tyreek Hill all gone out of the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2022-23 season’s commencement, it seems to be enough for Stephen A Smith to rule out the chances of this team winning the Super Bowl this time around.
While the Chiefs have been a top side season after season, there abysmal exit from the playoffs last time around seems to have woken all critics up and one of the strongest being, veteran sports media personality Stephen A Smith. The same personnel not only snubbed Kansas City Chiefs from the Top 5 list but also has been verbal about Patrick Mahomes lackluster performance, when the odds got tough.
Given that Patrick Mahomes has to redeem himself with Travis Kelce by his side, the 54-year-old American sports media personality is hardly given them a chance. Having to re-vamp in the offseason, Kansas City Chiefs gained the likes of Juju Smith Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Reid. Although these particular stars can very well balance their zones, yet it looks like in an improved AFC West, Chiefs would face a tough time, this time around.
Can Kansas City Chiefs challenge the rest of NFL for Super Bowl glory?
However, do not let these sceptical takes fool you for the talent at the disposal of Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022-23 season. Their new influx of free agent talent was met with 10 draftees from the latest draft, which includes first rounder picks – Trent McDuffie and George Kalaftis. While Skyy Moore has a huge thunder-load of expectations on his shoulders.
That being said, securing their place in the third Super Bowl in four years will not come at an easy cost for the Kansas City Chiefs. Rather this season could be their toughest challenge. Interestingly, Patrick Mahomes’ side is the first team in NFL history to open the season with eight straight games against the opposition that had a winning record in the previous season.
The opening gauntlet will surely reveal a lot of insights about the team’s morale and environment inside the locker room. Will we witness the Kansas City Chiefs silencing their critics – such as Stephen A. Smith for good? Remains to be seen.
