To simply say Mac Jones was frustrated with his own team after Buffalo Bills handed Patriots their 6th loss of the 2022-23 season, would be an understatement. With the offense struggling to score points to win any game, their #1 Quarterback reached his boiling point as his team’s chances of clinching the playoff berths are hanging by a thread.
What’s even worse, the issues and offensive woes are not only evident to Mac Jones but even to various personnel in and around the NFL world. One of which is Ryan Clark who feels that Bill Belichick’s team have a scary weapon outside.
But to bring everyone on the same page, let us first look at Jones’ individual performance. He finished 22-of-36 for 195 yards and a TouchDown pass to rookie Marcus Jones, who brilliantly scored on his first offensive snap as a pro.
The offensive issues have been endless for Bill Belichick’s O-line and majorly #1 QB. Some of which are evident – struggles with clock management, combined with continued futility on third down, among others which are out in the open.
Perhaps it was about time that Mac Jones’ displeasure seemingly reached a fever pitch in the night’s closing moments as he was caught on camera yelling his heart out. Take a look at video below-
“Obviously just kind of let my emotions get to me,” Jones said in the postgame conference as soon as speculations started arising on what he possibly uttered. “But, we’re kind of playing from behind. What I said was about throwing it deeper [as opposed to] the short game.
“I’ve gotta execute that part better, but it’s the short game that we kept going to — which was working. But I felt we needed chunk plays, and I shouted that out to kind of get everyone going. And that’s emotional, that’s football. I’m passionate about this game.”
