With Derek Carr and his Las Vegas Raiders being 1-4 after the first 5 games of the 2022-23 season, there isn’t much enthusiasm among its fans. However, sports media personality – Skip Bayless is not ruling them out, just yet.
According to the 70-year-old analyst Derek Carr’s Las Vegas Raiders is perhaps the best ever 1-4 team in NFL history. Justifying his claim, Bayless urged how the Raiders could storm their way back into the league as well.
On one hand, where the Raiders and its fanbase wouldn’t be happy with the result. But it is impossible to ignore the bad luck they’ve had so far in the 2022-23 season. To those who are not aware, all of the four losses Derek Carr’s team has suffered have been by 6 points or less.
Can Derek Carr’s Raiders storm their way back in 2022-23 season?
Bayless stated on the latest episode of Undisputed, “The Las Vegas Raiders are the best 1-4 team in NFL history. I can make the case they could be 4-1 and maybe 5-0…As the great Bill Parcells said, ‘You are what your record says you are.'”
Be it Derek Carr, or pro bowlers like Maxx Crosby and Josh Jacobs – it is indeed safe to say that the Las Vegas Raiders have way more talent in their roster than their 1-4 record indicates. The primary problem for this team has been their inability to close out the games in the dying moments. Surely, something Head Coach Josh McDaniels needs to solve sooner rather than later.
Having lost 9 times to Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs since 2018. This makes their most recent loss even more frustrating. Leading by 17-0 at one stage, it was only their miserable third quarter, which saw the Chiefs storm their way back into the contest in Week 5.
