While Kansas City Chiefs looked like ‘THE’ team to win the silverware in the 2021-22 NFL Season, there upset at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals brought nothing but criticism towards marquee Patrick Mahomes. To an extent where all AFC Quarterbacks have been hyped before the start of the upcoming season except him.
However, with the vast majority of experienced analysts left out Patrick Mahomes from their respective tallies, Mike Greenberg came to the former’s rescue as he urged and detailed how the 26-year-old might just prove his potential of the ‘Greatest Ever QB’.
On ESPN’s Get Up, Mike Greenberg stated, “I have a theory of what I’m expecting from him (Patrick Mahomes), this season. It is only Patrick Mahomes who could have us say, ‘Oh he’s coming off of a down year.’”
Can Patrick Mahomes rise from the ashes to answer his critics in 2022-23 NFL Season?
Mahomes had a terrible stint in the second half and overtime of the AFC Championship Game loss to the Bengals, last year. But what many forget that the 26-year-old charismatic QB has led the Chiefs to four straight AFC Championship Games, including a Super Bowl in the spoken of span.
Citing his conversation with the other panellists, few years ago, Greenberg added, “Our conversation was about whether or not Patrick Mahomes was the greatest Quarterback of all-time. Now all of a sudden, his own division people seem to be gaining on him, if Mahomes is going to have a career which we are projecting – then I believe this is the year where he’s ging to go – Scorched Earth! This is the year he proves it and might as well shut everybody up.”
That being said, with Tyreek Hill gone, Mahomes has every honor to fight for, if he needs to earn back his reputation as one of the greatest ever to enter the league. Will we witness the legendary Mahomes being elaborated when he has the league’s best tight end Travis Kelce by his side? Surely a lot of answers will unravel as this take’s the field on Monday against Los Angeles Chargers.
