“This wasn’t an MVP performance”- Skip Bayless continues to doubt Patrick Mahomes following the win over Chargers

While Jaylen Watson might have secured all the limelight by making the game-winning play, there are no doubts in stating that Chiefs’ marquee QB – Patrick Mahomes too was impressive in the team’s week against the Chargers in Week 2. But it seems like sports media personality – Skip Bayless was not at all impressed by it.

Patrick Mahomes

It all started when Patrick got the Chiefs their first points of the night after making an electric run that saw him avoid a couple of tackles before offloading to Jerick McKinnon to get their first TouchDown, which even had a delicate flick.

However, while Bayless was discussing the same match alongside Shannon Sharpe on Undisputed, he had nothing but complains against the former MVP, “My issues with Patrick Mahomes are these…number one – he made two of three spectacular throws but he also made six to eight spectacularly dangerous throws, which should have been going the other way.”

Skip Bayless then looks at certain plays from the Chiefs vs Chargers game to highlight how inaccurate Patrick Mahomes’ throws were. Then he highlights how Mahomes almost committed the same mistake as Justin Herbet but was only unfortunate, it didn’t strike back at his performance or his team’s scores.

He added, “I just showed you (Shannon Sharpe) three pick-sixes which Patrick Mahomes just threw. And there were 2-3 more plays which I’m not gonna bore you with but had Mahomes feeling little heat in the pocket and decided I’m gonna throw it just for grabs. So, again was that an MVP performance?”

There are no doubts that Patrick Mahomes did not have a flawless night against the Chargers. Having made several mistakes by launching his throws, which fortunately for him, landed on the ground rather than in the hands of Chargers’ players, Mahomes’ contribution was in abundance. Lastly, it only goes onto show what a highly stacked game could do even on the sports’ greatest.
