Trevor Lawrence had other ideas when his team were desperately seeking for inspiration midway in the third quarter. After showcasing his leadership skills throughout the course of this season, he did it again in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans.
For those who don’t know, Trevor scored on a one-yard run, giving Jacksonville Jaguars a two-core lead. While the Jags would never look back from that lead, coach Doug Peterson admitted that Trevor Lawrence run which handed his team the advantage, was never a part of his plans.
More precisely, as reported by ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, Doug Pederson said that the play they called was actually a rush by running back Travis Etienne, and not Trevor Lawrence.
Trevor Lawrence secures win for Jaguars in Week 14
“Sort of a bewildered look on the sideline from me and everybody else. Like, what is he doing,” Pederson said on Lawrence’s touchdown run. “But he knew what he was doing.”
In a 36-22 victory, Lawrence completed 30-of-42 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns. It was the third time he has thrown for 300+ yards and three touchdowns in a game this season. Moreover, Trevor ranks ninth in the league in passing yards, with a tally of 3,202 and 10th in passing TouchDowns with a tally of 20.
That being said, after this win the Jacksonville Jaguars are 5-8 in the AFC South, they are currently 2nd in their respective standings behind the Titans, who are not 7-6.
