Washington Commanders make huge Carson Wentz decision ahead of clutch time

Published by

Washington Commanders has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, over the last year or so. Amid such a torrid stretch, the team seems to have taken a tough decision over their #1 Quarterback – they have promoted Taylor Heinicke to start over Carson Wentz, as per Ian Rapoport.

Taylor Heinicke

To those who are not aware, Taylor Heinicke started for the Washington Commanders in all of the 15 games last season, he even led the team to three wins in his last four games. Perhaps as the regular season is reaching its business end, the Commanders have made a huge decision citing their #1 Quarterback.

Taylor stepped in for Wentz after the latter suffered from an injury in Week 6. During this mentioned stretch, they have won games some of the big giants – Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, a team which was undefeated before it.

Washington Commanders replace Taylor Heinicke with Carson Wentz

“Heinicke will start today against the Texans, with Carson Wentz not quite ready to return from his finger injury. And as one source explained, Heinicke will remain the starting QB until he’s not. In other words, until there is no choice but to make a move.”

That being said, the Washington Commanders are on a nervous 5-5 record tally before heading into their next showdown. Being the last team currently in the NFC East division. On one side where Taylor’s game has given confidence to the rest of the team, the future seems unclear for Carson Wentz, especially after knowing his tally was 2-4 in the first six games of the 2022-23 season.
