Justin Fields took center stage as the Chicago Bears was inches away from beating the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Having ran for 178 yards, it was the most by a Quarterback in a regular-season encounter. A record which was previously held by Michael Virk (Atlanta) in a win against Minnesota in 2022.
Despite Fields’ Bears coming up 32-35 short against the Dolphins, he was exceptional. One particular play off his caught the eyes of many wherein he threw an electrifying. Fast and accurate throw to D. Mooney. With the Bears down by 11 points in the 2nd quarter, Fields and Mooney’s connection got them right back into the game, closing the gap to just 5 points. Justin Fields scrambled for a 61-yard Touchdown, which was the longest by any other QB in franchise history, and three for three scorers. Moreover, he also became the first player with at least 150 yards rushing and 3 Touchdowns in a game, since 1950.
Justin Fields unable to guide Bears past Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa threw for 3 Touchdowns, while his wide receiver – Tyreek Hill had 143 yards receiving as Miami Dolphins overcame a record-setting rushing effort by Justin Fields to beat the Bears on Sunday.
This loss has handed Bears their 6th in the first 9 weeks of the 2022-23 regular season. However, the Bears’ QB did give his team a late chance to secure a win.
They got the ball on their 28 after Miami punted with just under three minutes remaining. But on fourth-and-10 at the 42, Fields threw incomplete to Equanimeous St. Brown, sealing Chicago’s fifth loss in six games. With just an inch or two here or there, the game was for Chicago to win. Just goes onto show, what the situation has been for them throughout the first 9 games.
