Baker Mayfield has a record of 1-4 when playing for the Carolina Panthers – a team which has pulled off some unexpected wins without their mega signing in the 2022-23 season. Moreover, he has a QBR of just 78.1 (career low) which sums up his form. To give you an idea of how impressive he was in his rookie season, his QBR was 93.7.
While Baker Mayfield has consistently struggled on the field, what we know by now is that Hall of Famer turned analyst Shannon Sharpe is no big fan of him. So, when the Panthers won against Falcons 25-15, Mayfield’s over-exaggerated reactions were not taken well by the undisputed host.
Sharpe did have some harsh comments on Baker Mayfield, as he called the latter ‘trash’ despite impressing everyone in his rookie season. Carolina Panthers winning the game with Philip Walkers as their QB, Sharpe feels that Mayfield is desperate for attention at the moment as he head butted his own teammate with no helmet on.
Sharpe calls Baker Mayfield ‘trash’
“This is the only way Baker Mayfield can garner attention, because he can’t do it on the football field,” Sharpe said when reflecting on his headbutting antics. “Baker Mayfield is trash.”
That being said, Walker did not have a pleasant game against the Falcons. Some might even suggest that if it wasn’t for his running backs, Panthers would have never won the game. To be precise, Philip has just 10 TouchDowns and 108 passing yards all night, as he even made some questionable passes.
D’Onta Foreman carried the ball for 130 yards, and inevitably scored a TouchDown after finishing the game with 31 rushing attempts.
Moreover, even Laviska Shenault Jr. found his way into the endzone as the Panthers utilised their aggressive running game against an opposition who had no clue of how to catch the pace in the latter quarters.
