Davante Adams seemed like a force to reckon with when he caught 10 catches for 141 yards in the season opening loss against the LA Chargers. After a strong debut for his new team Raiders, many expected Adams to pull his team to new height with college teammate Derek Carr.
However, things went haywire for Davante Adams as soon as we reached Week 2. Not only did the Raiders dropped games against Cardinals and Titans, Adams was targeted for a combined total of 17 times and had seven catches for only 48 yards. Surely, the system-change from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr started showcasing in Davante Adams’ game.
“All the Green Bay people will definitely still be on that, trying to compare the stats and all that,” Adams said as reported by ESPN. “But we’re not doing this thing for stats at the end of the day.”
Previously secured a $140 Million-5 Year extension, Davante Adams has looked like a lost figure in Las Vegas. Having started 0-3 in the 2022-23 NFL Season, it seems like the combination of Derek Carr and Davante Adams hasn’t fired on all cylinders, yet.
Adams added, “Derek and I jumped straight into the fire, had a few one-on-one opportunities in the first week and got 17 targets. So now, people are changing it up, obviously, and we’ve got to change some stuff up too.”
If the Raiders are hoping to get onto winning ways for the first time in the season in Week 4 itself – Davante Adams needs to put in the work with Derek Carr need to play together and in sync. Given that Broncos too have their respective defensive voids, which have been exploited previously, Adams needs to bring his ‘A-Game’ to the table, sooner rather than later.
