Kenny Pickett surely had to wait for his turn to get the starting job at the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, it seems like his stint as the #1 Quarterback will not stretch for long, after he was ruled out in his team’s latest matchup against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
Pickett took the starting role in only Week 4 vs the New York Jets. However, he had to leave the game against Bucs due to an unfortunate injury, allowing Mitch Trubisky to once again take up the role from where he left off. Even with the Pittsburgh Steelers securing a 2-point win against the 2020 Super Bowl Champ, Kenny Pickett’s absence could play a huge role in the upcoming games.
So, what happened to Kenny Pickett? The Steelers’ marquee received a blow for rival linebacker – Devin White. After which he fell to the ground and struck his head on the floor with some pace and power. Some even suggest it to a similar case like Tua Tagovailoa. Now with the concussion protocols tightening up, Pickett could be ruled for quite some time.
Kenny Pickett was able to stand firm on his feet. But quickly demanded the trainers to come on the field and take a look at him. After which, he was ruled out of the contest, taken into the medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion.
Concussion seems to be on the rise in the 2022-23 season. Especially after several mishaps, including Tua Tagovailoa’s blunder – it is expected that Kenny Pickett could be given some rest, considering that majority of the games are lined up ahead of him. Safe to say if the Pittsburgh Steelers bring out Pickett much before to when he’s ready, there is a high chance that they too could be brought under investigated light, just as Miami Dolphins.
