Spencer Rattler, a 5-star prospect in 2019 recruiting class is a record-setter with over 11,000 passing yards for Pinnacle High School. Having missed his early football journey due to a ‘childish, dumb mistake’. Eventually this ensured that Rattler chose Oklahoma as his destination.
After a slow start, Rattler rose to prominence in 2020, completing 67.4% of his passes, where the former Oklahoma Quarterback threw for over 3,000 yards and 28 TouchDowns as he led the Sooner to a Big 12 Championship.
This high level of performance meant that Spencer Rattler began to enter the 2022 NFL draft cycle as an early QB1 favorite. That being said, the season failed to live up to his expectations, being benched – he never reclaimed his starting job for the Sooners.
When will Spencer Rattler enter the NFL Draft?
A failed attempt meant that Rattler now has a very different outlook in the 2023 NFL Draft cycle compared to last season, the South Carolina QB isn’t without allure. Given that his prowess is evidently making him rank amongst the top picks for many teams yet one has to acknowledge his flaws as well.
In simpler terms – there are, of course, some concerns and clear areas for improvement. However, a change of environment could unlock his strengths and help him re-establish his NFL draft stock.
That being said, Spencer Rattler has an amazing arm strength. Apart from this, there are other impressive elements to his game as well. The South Carolina QB routinely demonstrated a rapid release, getting the ball out his hand as quickly as possible. Lastly, Rattler has shown the ability to fit the ball into extremely tight window, but will he be able to showcase the same in the biggest football? Remains to be seen.
