Caleb Williams made huge news this past week because of his because of his big transfer. After evaluating the situation thorough the former Oklahoma Quarterback made it official about his new destination. As many speculated the five-star freshman is following Lincoln Riley to USC.
To those who are not aware Caleb Williams usurped the Sooners’ starting job from Spencer Rattler. The former tweeted out his decision and the complete move with a USC photo shoot.
So why did Caleb Williams choose USC? He did give an insight about his particular decision, which seems to be giving a good understanding of what the young Quarterback truly wants in the coming years.
Caleb Williams stated, “When you have as many players as they have coming into the NFL, at all positions, I don’t think there’s any way to really combat it.”
“Professional development. We want Caleb to be ready to play when he becomes a pro,” Carl Williams, who is Caleb’s father said, as per ESPN. “You go to college to get prepared for your career. His chosen career path is professional football. We want him to be prepared for when that time comes.”
Caleb Williams joining Riley’s team makes sense for multiple reasons. Having already played a season with him, Williams is already familiar with Riley’s playbook. He completed 136 of 211 passes 64.5% for 1,912 yards and 21 TouchDowns to four interceptions. He also added 79 rushes for 442 yards (5.6 yards per carry) and an additional six TouchDowns. With the team and plenty other hoping for Caleb to repeat the same magic, will we see it unravel? Time will reveal all answers.
