Javonte Williams was expected to have a breakout year in the 2022-23 season after showing extreme flashes of his incredible attributes alongside Melvin Gordon III. However, the reality has turned out to be very different as we might not witness the running back in action again in the current season after his horrific Week 4 injury.
The Denver Broncos’ running back exited the Week 4 showdown against the Los Vegas Raiders, who secured their first win of the season against them. To those who missed the action, Javonte Williams has suffered a torn ACL and LCL and will be out for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
There was a common fear amongst all of Broncos’ fanbase when Javonte Williams was ruled out of the previous encounter, upon the young stud running back suffering from a potentially serious knee injury. The injury demons came to haunt the fans and the player, as the above-mentioned were proven to be true after further testing was conducted.
Javonte Williams’ absence only indicates that there will be abundance of pressure now on the shoulders of Gordon and Mike Boone in the coming games. If the Broncos do want to reach the playoffs, then these two players have to be at their best. Talking about their most recent performance – Gordon had a fumble that led to a TouchDown in Week 4, which saw Boone play 33% of the snaps compared to Gordon’s 19%.
That being said, it is safe to urge that it will be Gordon majorly who would be expected to lead the Denver Broncos’ offense in Javonte Williams’ absence. The former has great offensive attributes, which will enable him to offer some value as a low-end RB2. But the team’s coaching staff is known to be taking their chances. Will there be an experiment even this time around? Will be an interesting story to watch out for as the Broncos lock horns against the Colts in Week 5.
