New England Patriots’ 2022-23 campaign might just take a significant turn as starting Quarterback has been ruled out of Week 4 showdown against the Green Bay Packers. After suffering from a brutal ankle injury in the previous game against the Baltimore Ravens, Mac Jones has been officially ruled out for the game on Sunday.
With many feeling a ray of hope when they spotted Mac Jones on the field, that the QB could still play for the Patriots against Aaron Rodgers’ Packers yet all those aspirations have been buried. However, Jones was eventually listed as a non-participant on the Patriots’ final injury report of the week.
Mac Jones has suffered a ‘severe’ high-ankle sprain when Baltimore’s defensive end – Calais Campbell struck him on his final throw of the Week 3 game. As per ESPN, this spoken off high-ankle sprain could require a typical form of surgery to recover. But Mac Jones reportedly sought a second option on the issue earlier in the week.
Now with Mac Jones ruled out, it will be Brian Hoyer who would be taking up his position as starting Quarterback for New England Patriots on Sunday. The concerning factor is – that the latter hasn’t started since the 2020 season, wherein he played in the Patriots’ Week 4 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.
To be precise Brian Hoyer has started is only 39 games over his 14 yearlong NFL career with other teams. Some people even derive him as the jinx for their own team as he has lost his last 11 starting-encounters.
That being said, with Mac Jones out, Bill Belichick would be hoping to make major strategy changes to outfox Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers, who are on the backs of a victory against the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Which team will come out on top? Do let us know in the comment section down below.
