Tennessee Titans rookie Quarterback – Malik Willis is all set to make his first ever start in the NFL on Sunday against the Houston Texans. This has happened as Ryan Tannehill has been dealing with an illness and also as ankle sprain. This led to Malik taking starting reps in the week’s practice sessions for the Titans.
Moreover, Malik Willis would have the pressure to perform and secure his team’s 5th win of the 2022-23 regular season, as Tannehill will not be even travelling with his team to Houston for this encounter, as his mentioned illness has caused him to miss the Titans’ walkthrough.
To those who missed Malik Willis making an appearance in this season – he has played in two games so far with 17 of his 20 snaps coming late in a 41-7 blowout loss against the resilient Buffalo Bills. In the same game Ryan Tannehill was benched, for whom the 23-year-old rookie QB was called upon. Even then, he completed one of his four passes for just 6 yards and even ran the ball four times for 16 yards.
To talk about the history and background of Malik Willis, he was a third-round pick out of Liberty. The idea of this franchise was to acquire Willis and slowly develop him alongside Ryan. But with the situation turning as such, Willis is called upon sooner than many expected for the starting role.
Keeping Malik Willis aside, one needs to focus upon the form Tennessee Titans are currently on – having won four consecutive games – with each victory being less than 10 points – this team would be looking to extend their winning record in Week 8 anyhow. Safe to say, the only expectation Titans would have – is not wanting Malik Willis to make mistakes which could hamper the momentum of the entire team.
