With the New Orleans Saints all set to play their first slate of games in London (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium) on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, they won’t be having the services of Michael Thomas. The Head Coach – Dennis Allen announced that Thomas has been ruled out courtesy of a foot injury.
The 29-year-old Wide Receiver missed the practice this week as could potentially be joined by Quarterback Jameis Winston in the list of players missing from this contest. Michael Thomas is known for his burst of speed, fancy moves and exuberant plays with the ball, but that won’t be on display this Sunday at least.
After missing all of the last season games, Michael Thomas displayed just why he could be one of the very best WRs and still has highly effective hands in the first three game of the 2022-23 NFL Season. In that spoken off period, he managed to register 3 receiving TouchDowns and is second in targets with a tally of 22, catches (16) and 117 receiving yards.
There are no doubts that Michael Thomas’ absence will be a huge blow for the New Orleans Saints but Dennis Allen has surely kept Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry in the hunt. Moreover, Andy Dalton will be expected to receive his first start of the current campaign. Dalton will have a tough task on his hand keeping up with the likes of – Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson.
That being said, New Orleans Saints’ offense has struggled in the past two games and has evident voids, which the opposition have made full use off. With the game being played in unfamiliar territory, this is exactly why Michael Thomas’ absence could be taking a toll on Dennis Allen’s team, especially when they have to win games at this point.
