The Miami Dolphins not only endured their first loss of the 2022-23 season on Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals, but also lost their marquee Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the second quarter of the game. As the Dolphins bowed out of the contest, their voids became even more visible without their star as the game progressed into the latter stages.
When Tua Tagovailoa caught the ball, Cincinnati Bengals’ defensives linesman – Josh Tupou held him and pulled him down. After which the former’s elbow struck the ground with force and then his helmet followed it up. Unlike the last game, Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered his second hit in five days, was carried out in a stretcher and was taken to the hospital.
Onn one hand where even the Cincinnati Bengals players were concerned about the victim, Shannon Sharpe decided to launch a dig at Tua. The former players turned analyst used insensitive comments, after which he had to face the wrath of angry fanatics.
“Wonder if Tua/Dolphins call this a back injury. Can’t wait to hear diagnosis,” the NFL Hall of Famer wrote on Twitter. However, after facing extensive backlash, SKip Bayless’ co-host quickly deleted the Tweet and issued an apology.
“I deleted my previous post because it wasn’t the right thing to say. I apologize for my lack of sensitivity dealing with the injury.”
“I believe the Dolphins lied about Tua injury on Sunday and put him in this predicament. Again, I apologize for lapse in judgement,” Sharpe concluded.
Only goes onto show what the modern-day media has turned into. Despite Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, he has been discharged from the hospital and would be returning back with the team. But his presence for Week 5 showdown will be a concern for the Miami Dolphins, who are seeking to bounce back onto winning ways.
