“You don’t ‘lil boy’ former DPOY”- Richard Sherman lauds Stephen Gilmore after a dominant performance against the Broncos

It is safe to say that Stephon Gilmore was undoubtedly the star of Broncos vs Colts’ showdown on Thursday Night. In a game where many expected the Quarterbacks to lead their offense, the reality was quite the opposite. It was complete defensive banter, summarized by a below-par ending as per Russell Wilson’s standards.

The newest member of the Thursday Night Football broadcasting crew – Richard Sherman decided to launch a ‘deja-vu’ dig on former teammate Wilson. But in the same process also acknowledged the worthy defensive effort of Stephon Gilmore.

Nathaniel Hackett, Broncos’ new head coach, decided to throw the kitchen sink by calling a play for the win via fourth-and-1. While many in and around the NFL world have not trusted Hackett’s clutch-decision-making skills, the decisive game-deciding call on Thursday turned out to be a terrible call as his Quarterback’s pass to Courtland Sutton was incomplete, courtesy to Indianapolis’ cornerback Stephon Gilmore’s excellent coverage.

Stephon Gilmore has had defensive pressure for the Indianapolis Colts. Even when he is not leading their defensive unit, the 32-year-oldcornerback has shown ample signs of making a difference in big games. Obviously, his elite performances are never a positive site for neutral football fans (being a defensive beast) yet it is extremely safe to deem him as Man of the Match for Thursday’s encounter.

Believe it or not, Indianapolis Colts have pulled out some positive results being the underdogs already in the 2022-23 campaign. Who knows, what result they might pull of in the coming weeks, before the break?

That being said, problems seem to be looming large for Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson. Having signed him for more than $230 Million, it is high time for the veteran Quarterback to make a difference and take center stage for his new side and their fans.
