Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is expected to return to the NFL next season and the Chargers job looks intriguing.
Sean Payton is not in the NFL as he decided to take some time off the league after parting ways with the New Orleans Saints following the end of last season. However, there are many teams who would love to get him back in the league.
The Los Angeles Chargers led by Justin Herbert are on their way to another underwhelming season and Mike Florio believes the Chargers should go for Sean Payton next season to replace Brandon Staley.
Talking about it, Mike Florio said, “You’ve got this weapon, you’ve got this quarterback who was crafted in a lab, and you can’t get more out of him. Sean Payton Well, next year, assuming that Dean Spanos will pay him, which I think is a point you made yesterday, as we were kicking around the possibilities via text message during the games.”
He added, “They’re gonna have to be ready to dig deep if they want champagne, but maybe he’ll give them a Justin Herbert discount for the opportunity to work with him because there’s no one else out there. I mean, think about it, you’re not going to get the chance to work with Josh Allen, you’re not going to get the chance to work with Patrick Mahomes. You’re going to get the chance to work with Justin Herbert. There may be some value in that cost of living is high in California.”
There is a serious possibility that the Los Angeles Chargers will pursue Sean Payton if they fail to make the playoffs once again this season. However, they need to act quickly as other teams will also be interested in the former Saints head coach.
