“Seeing the development of those guys can’t help but be a part of the decision”- Aaron Rodgers claims his future with the Green Bay Packers will depend on young receivers

Aaron Rodgers is still not certain about where or not he will play in 2023 for the Green Bay Packers.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are off to a decent start to the season, but their offense hasn’t clicked yet, and that has been a major concern. Having young wide receivers in the team has certainly played a huge part in it, as Rodgers looks to strengthen his chemistry with new receivers following the departure of Davante Adams.

The Packers are currently 3-1, following their win against the New England Patriots, but Rodgers knows that the offense needs to get better if they aim to do something special this season. Rodgers has already indicated that the performance and development of his young receivers will play a huge role in his future in the league.

Talking about the young wide receivers of the Packers, Rodgers said, “There’s going to be a lot of benefits to be reaped from those guys, I’m sure, long after I’m gone.”

He added, “Look, my decision, when it comes down to it, will be, obviously, the physical part, the mental part, seeing where the team is at. … There’s some moving pieces that’ll factor in, for sure. But seeing the development of those guys can’t help but be a part of the decision.”

“I think both guys can be ‘dudes,’”- Aaron Rodgers has high expectations for Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson

Aaron Rodgers has played with many good wide receivers throughout his career, and he knows a thing or two about the potential of young receivers. He believes that both Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson can turn out to be very special going forward.

Talking about them, Rodgers said, “I think both guys can be ‘dudes. It’s going to be, how does their confidence progress? How many plays can they lock and anchor into their mind as places to go back to and think about when they’ve maybe had a stretch where they haven’t played their best ball or maybe they need some inspiration? How many memories can they lock into their brain that they can access in the moment? And then, how do they work on their craft?”

He added, “There’ll be opportunities for big jumps between Years 1 and 2 and Years 2 and 3, especially, which we see from a lot of young players. But I think they both have opportunities to be really, really good players in the league.”

So far in the season, both Watson and Doubs have had some questionable drops that have led to serious momentum changes in the game for the Packers, and many believe that Aaron Rodgers can get fed up of them if they don’t improve quickly.

Rodgers has played with Davante Adams for a long time and having a wide receiver like him made his expectations for other receivers quite high. So far both Doubs nor Watson haven’t been able to play at that level. Due to it, Rodgers has thrown to Randal Cobbs, and Allen Lazard a bit more than them.

Moreover, the Packers have been using their running backs a lot more, and it is largely due to the fact that Rodgers hasn’t been able to build up that chemistry with his new receivers as of yet. Hopefully, they’ll be able to sort things out quickly.
