Here are all the teams that have gone undefeated in the NFL in the league’s history
NFL is widely regarded by many as one of the most competitive sporting leagues in the world. It also happens to be one of the most famous leagues in the world. In this article, we will take a look at all the teams who have managed to stay undefeated throughout the regular campaign of a season.
The league started back in 1920 and since then only there have been only four seasons in which a team has gone undefeated throughout their campaign. Those teams are Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears x2. Let’s have a detailed look on the team’s undefeated regular season campaigns.

Chicago Bears (1934)
The 1934 Chicago Bears were the first team in the history of NFL (14 years at that time) to have gone undefeated the entire regular season. At that time, the regular season used to be of only 13 games and Bears went 13-0. Their first loss came in the post season game against the New York Giants in a game which saw them lose out on the championship. They lost 13-30 to the New York Giants in the championship finals.
Chicago Bears (1942)
Just eight years after their initial triumph in 1934, the 1942 Chicago Bears went undefeated for the second time in the league’s history. At that point they were the only team to have achieved this feat and they are the only team till date to have accomplished this feat twice. However, much like that of the 1942 season, Bears lost out in the championship finals yet again. They lost out to the Washington Redskins (Now Washington football team) in tight contest which ended 6-14 in the favor of the Redskins.
Miami Dolphins (1972)
30 years after the Bears went undefeated in 1942, the Miami Dolphins etched their name in the history books to become the second only team to have gone their entire regular season undefeated. Not only that, Dolphins took the levels even further as they capped of their year with a victory in the Super Bowl as well. Dolphins defeated Washington Redskins by the score of 14-7. This triumph made the Dolphins the single only team to have been undefeated the entire regular and post season campaign.
New England Patriots (2007)
The Patriots joined the elite undefeated club in 2007, 35 years after the Dolphins went undefeated. They are the most recent team in the history of the NFL to have gone undefeated in the regular season. The Patriots were also close on matching Dolphins’ record of capping the season off with a win in Super Bowl.
