The Panthers were looking to trade their star running back, and teams like the Rams and the Bills were considered to have the best chance of doing so. However, the 49ers were able to land McCaffrey.
The San Francisco 49ers are now a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl as a result of this move. They will now have Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey as their dual threats, and both of these players are extremely capable of running the ball while also playing an important role as great receivers.
