New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett had a terrific NFL debut and threw a game-winning touchdown pass.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are undergoing a small rebuild right now. This will be a period of transition for the team as long-time quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retired last season.
With quarterback Kenny Pickett and wide receiver George Pickens, the Steelers did well in the draft and acquired two quality players. Both of them had a terrific debut in the preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
While Pickens scored a touchdown himself, Kenny Pickett threw two touchdown passes. Notably, his second touchdown pass was a game-winning touchdown, and it capped off a great performance from him.
Pickett is seen as the future of this franchise. He might not start the season as the starting quarterback of the franchise. However, if he continues to impress as he did against the Seahawks, the QB1 role isn’t far away from him.
Currently, former Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky is given the nod ahead of Kenny Pickett for the role of starting quarterback of the Steelers. However, that could change pretty quickly if Trubisky didn’t play well.
