Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers continued to roll as they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders and are now the 2nd seed in the NFC.
After defeating the Las Vegas Raiders with a game-winning field goal in overtime, the San Francisco 49ers have now won nine games in a row this season.
Since Ben Roethlisberger went undefeated in his debut season as a starting quarterback in 2004, Brock Purdy is the only rookie quarterback to win four consecutive starts. The fact that he accomplished it in a game in which the Niners won only their second win while trailing by double digits in the second half since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017, has left his coach and many of his teammates ready to claim this is more than just a flash in the pan.
In the absence of Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, head coach Kyle Shanahan has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his rookie quarterback, Brock Purdy. He praised him highly for doing so.
Speaking about it, Shanahan said, “What Brock’s doing is real, He’s a talented guy who is very tough, and when he does make mistakes he understands why and then he tries to learn from them. He doesn’t have a ton of experience in this league.”
He added, “So, every time he goes out there, whether it is good or bad, I feel like when you’ve got the skill set and play the game the right way, he’s only going to get better from it. So, there was a number of situations that happened today that he didn’t get in his other four games, and yes, I do think that helps.”
The 49ers are likely to lock up the second seed in the NFC and that will give them a huge advantage in their pursuit of making it to the Super Bowl.
