J.J. Watt was drafted by the Houston Texans with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft on April 28. This made him the first defensive end to be chosen in the first round of that draft.
During the course of his career, Watt has played for the Houston Texans and the Arizona Cardinals. He recently announced that he will retire from the NFL after this season and it came as a shock to many.
Watt is on his way to getting selected for the Hall of Fame as he has had a legendary career and will forever be remembered as one of the best defensive players in the history of the game. Watt was selected to play in 5 Pro Bowls throughout his career. He has won 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards and the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.
Watt had 409 solo tackles, 122 assists, 101.0 sacks, 16 fumble recoveries, and 2 interceptions in 128 games for the Texans in his career.
It was unfortunate for him that the Houston Texans, who had a tremendously outstanding squad led by Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt, and Deandre Hopkins, did not win a Super Bowl when he was playing for them. Despite this, he will always be appreciated by the people that live in Houston for the work that he has done both on and off the field.
J.J. Watt had 36 solo tackles, 13 assists, 10.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery in 21 games for the Arizona Cardinals in his career. He still has two games remaining in his NFL career and will likely be cheered by the fans of the teams that he will play against.
