Nicolas Devir Claxton (born April 17, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In college, he played basketball for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Claxton attended Greenville, South Carolina’s Legacy Charter School. As a senior, he averaged 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, becoming the fourth player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
Claxton, a three-star recruit, chose Georgia over Baylor, Florida State, North Carolina State, and South Carolina.
The Brooklyn Nets selected Claxton with the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft on June 20, 2019. The Nets announced Claxton’s signing on July 7, 2019. In January 2020, he suffered a hamstring injury and was assigned to the Long Island Nets, the team’s G League affiliate. Claxton had successful arthroscopic labrum repair surgery on his left shoulder on June 24, 2020, and it was expected that he would miss the rest of the 2019-20 season.
