Mansell has earned most of his income through his racing career that included F1, IndyCar and other events. As of 2024 he has an estimated net worth of $90 million. It is also reported that during the 1994 season he was paid 900,000 euros per race. Mansell was one of the highest paid British sportsmen during his time. Nigel Mansell Career
Mansell started kart racing as a hobby but later fell in love with racing. He saw considerable success in kart racing and decided to move to the Formula Ford series at the age of 23. Mansell’s father was against professional racing but Mansell still followed his passion.
In his first year he took part in nine races and ended up winning six of those. In just his second year in Formula Ford, Mansell went on to win 33 races out of the 42 he participated in. His impeccable record made him a star in the F1 community.
Mansell went on to make his Formula One debut at the 1980 Austrian GP with Lotus. Mansell stayed with Lotus for four years before moving to Williams in 1985. He was made the teammate of Keke Rosberg, father of Nico Rosberg. His Williams career was pretty successful and he continued to win races. However, he was not able to challenge for the title.
In 1989, Mansell joined Ferrari and only won one race throughout the season. After just two season at Ferrari, Mansell returned to Williams in 1991. The very next year proved to be the best of his career. Mansell won nine races in 1992 which saw him become the 1992 F1 world champion.
In 1993, Mansell left F1 to race in the IndyCar series but returned back to F1 the very next season to Williams. Williams then went on to release Mansell for the 1994 season which saw him join McLaren. After a pretty rough first year at McLaren, Mansell decided to call it quits from racing and retired.
