According to a recent report by the Evening Standard, Chelsea’s prodigious English star Callum Hudson-Odoi is said to be on the verge of signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge that would keep him at the club for another 5 years.
With Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid now all but imminent, it could be the perfect opportunity for Hudson-Odoi to make the vacant role his own.
It has been suggested that the Blues backroom team has finally managed to convince the youngster to commit his future to the club that made him the player he is.
Despite long negotiations between him and Bayern Munich earlier in the season, the Englishman stayed put at Chelsea and was given his due opportunity by Maurizio Sarri.
He was instrumental in their Europa League campaign and he even got himself a few important starts as well before unfortunately getting injured.
At just 18, the youngster has come to the fore at Stamford Bridge and although nothing has been set in stone yet, it only seems a matter of time until this deal is announced.
Eden Hazard has been Chelsea’s best signing of the last decade without a question and all the crucial things he’s done for the club over the years can’t be replaced.
His individual brilliance is the stuff of legend and when he’s on the ball, it’s possible to get completely lost in the way he moves. Unstoppable once he gets into the flow, Hazard has been the prime fear of Premier League defenders for a while now.
This season, he stepped up his game to the next level under the attacking setup utilised by Italian manager Maurizio Sarri.
Although it could be his last season at Stamford Bridge, his 15 goals and 16 assists in the Premier League guided them to a respectable 3rd place finish. He also scored a brace in their 4-1 Europa League final defeat of Arsenal in Baku to complete what has to be branded a successful season for the Blues.
