According to a report from The Sun, Leicester City are one of the host of clubs interested in signing ADO Den Haag defender Wilfried Kanon.
The Ivorian, 25, was a first-team regular for ADO Den Haag this season as he went on to make 30 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring one goal assisting once.
His solid performances for the Dutch outfit has also seen the likes of Southampton, Newcastle United, Schalke, Wolfsburg, Mainz, Real Betis and Getafe monitor his situation, the report adds.
Wilfried Kanon is set to star for Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations in the absence of Manchester United’s Eric Bailly due to his long-term knee injury. He is rated around £3million despite being contracted to Den Haag until 2022.
That makes Kanon such an attainable target but Leicester City must do everything in their powers to beat the other clubs for his signature.
Brendan Rodgers will look to make the most of his first summer transfer window as a Leicester City manager.
The Irishman has done a commendable job since replacing Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium, with young guns like Ben Chilwell, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Hamza Choudhury all impressing under him in the second half of the past season.
The ongoing summer transfer window gives Rodgers an opportunity to strengthen his squad and push for a top six finish in the 2019/20 campaign.
The Foxes have a very good squad but there are certain areas that need addressing. One of them is the defence, with Wes Morgan at the twilight of his career and Harry Maguire linked away from the club. Jonny Evans is also not getting younger, either.
The Foxes’ last summer signing Caglar Soyuncu has failed to meet his expectations; however, selling him after just one season in the Premier League makes very little sense irrespective of his performances.
On-loan defender Filip Benkovic was a key part of Celtic’s domestic treble this season and he has hinted a return to the Parkhead for the next campaign.
That’s enough to suggest why Leicester needs a new experienced central defender this summer and Wilfried Kanon fits the bill perfectly.
Kanon is a strong and powerful defender, who is excellent on the ball and that maybe why Rodgers is interested. The Ivory Coast international possesses the confidence to bring the ball out from the back and uses his speed and power while bursting through the middle.

His aggressive, no-nonsense defending combined with his fantastic technical abilities makes him a brilliant fit to the Premier League.
Kanon has earned bags of experience playing in the Dutch Eredivisie but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish altogether. Once he gets accustomed to the nature of English football, the 25-year-old’s signing would represent a shrewd piece of business for Leicester.
