Norwich City Opinion: Canaries should make a move for Dean Henderson
According to the Sun, Norwich City are interested in signing Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson on loan next summer, with Premier League duo Leicester City and Bournemouth also lining up a move for the 22-year-old Englishman.
The same report claims that Manchester United are likely to loan Henderson out to a top-flight club next season after his impressive displays between the sticks for Championship promotion-chasers Sheffield United.
Henderson has been a star performer between the sticks for Chris Wilder’s side this season, making 38 appearances in the Championship and keeping 16 clean sheets.
He has managed a clean sheet in each of his last seven outings in the league, including a crucial one in the all-important 1-0 victory over Leeds United last week. The victory over Leeds have put the Blades in the automatic promotion places and Henderson has certainly been one of the driving forces behind their successful campaign.
Henderson, who has earned 17 caps for England from U16 to U21 levels, has impressed with his shot-stopping and decision-making between the sticks.
The 22-year-old has registered a total of 87 saves from 38 games in the Championship, with 46 of those coming from inside the penalty area, including 6 from within the six-yard box.
While those figures are enough to justify the shot-stopping abilities of the youngster from all ranges, Henderson has also been spot on with his ball handling and composure, not afraid to come out of his line to catch crosses and always in command of his penalty area.
To put things into perspective, Norwich City should aim to beat off competition from other clubs to land the 6ft. 2 inches shot-stopper next summer.
They will need to seal qualification to the Premier League to give themselves a good chance of striking a deal for the 22-year-old but that now looks very likely to happen, with Daniel Farke’s side 4 points clear of Sheffield United atop the standings.
While Henderson would have to compete with the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward for a place at Leicester, Artur Boruc and Asmir Begovic will stand in his way should a move to Bournemouth materialize.
However, a move to Carrow Road would give the youngster more realistic hopes of playing first-team football in the top flight, with Tim Krul being the only viable option between the sticks.

Krul has had a good season for the Canaries but Farke should look to add more depth to his goalkeeping options next summer if he manages to guide the team to promotion.
Henderson has already shown plenty of promise at Sheffield and Norwich should greatly benefit from his presence between the sticks in the Premier League next term.
