Premier League Opinion: Predicted finished for the 3 promoted clubs

The Championship season that just passed laid witness to what was probably one of the competitive finishes to a league campaign ever.

Multiple teams were still in with a shout of promotion right until the final matchday but it was Sheffield United and Norwich City, who showed enough quality to finish in the automatic qualification spots.

Aston Villa beat Derby County in the final of the playoffs at Wembley and were the 3rd promoted side this season.

Here’s how the 3 newly promoted times might fare in the Premier League next season:

Norwich City – 13th

The Canaries had a season that was nothing short of spectacular and despite having a heavily weakened side for major parts of the season, they were able to overturn Leeds United’s mid-season lead quite comfortably.

Although they confirmed their promotion fairly early, their levels of performance on the pitch certainly didn’t drop.

Norwich are a team that have had extended periods in the Premier League and are probably the best equipped of all of the promoted teams to actually challenge some of the top-flight teams.

Expect Norwich to really announce themselves in the league and secure a fairly comfortable mid-table finish.

Sheffield United – 19th

Despite finishing the season in 2nd place on the Championship table, the Blades have Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United side to thank for gaining promotion so comfortably.

The Whites were in control of the table until their unexpected downfall began. Since then though, they struggled to win any games and the Blades too full advantage of the situation.

The Blades definitely have the weakest squad out of the three promoted clubs and despite a free-scoring striker and some really talented defenders, they don’t seem like the kind of side who can cause Premier League opposition any real difficulty.

While the Premier League can be full of surprises, Sheffield United’s league finish next season, certainly won’t be one of them.

Aston Villa – 17th

The Villans began their push for promotion only after the Christmas period and although their on-loan striker Tammy Abraham was banging in the goals prior to that, it was after this that they really began to progress as a side.

Their attacking play became a lot more fluent while the defenders seemed much more relaxed and composed even in difficult situations.

They didn’t have an easy path to the Premier League as they did have to go through the playoffs. Villa are of the famous English clubs and their reputation itself means quite a lot in the country.

An away visit to Villa Pearl certainly won’t be a walk in the park for any side and that’s why they have a decent chance of retaining top-flight status next term.
