Novak Djokovic won his 21st Grand Slam title on Sunday after beating Nick Kyrgios in four sets at the 2022 Wimbledon final. The Serbian produced some excellent strokes to take the victory 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3) which kept the fans at the Centre Court thoroughly entertained.

However, Djokovic also entertained fans with his celebrations after the win over Kyrgios. The Serbian honoured his 6th Wimbledon triumph by his customary grass eating and followed it up with something new. Djokovic appeared to lay down on the court, on his front and extend his arms to the sides. Not many were able to conjure up what the 34-year-old was getting at, but Djokovic’s celebration quickly went viral on social media.

Djokovic previously used to celebrate his titles by raising his arms to the four stands in the stadium. He also explained that his grass-eating was at the Wimbledon championships was simply because he dreamt of winning the British tournament. “Like every child, you dream of doing something crazy when you actually achieve it — if you achieve it — and that was one of the things,” he explained.

Nevertheless, Djokovic will be hoping to continue to build on his success this year and potentially go level with Rafael Nadal, who has 22 Grand Slam titles to his name, two of which came earlier this year. With his success at Wimbledon 2022, Djokovic has now moved one Grand Slam title ahead of Roger Federer.
