Serbian ace Novak Djokovic is considered as one of the greatest tennis players ever. The 32-year-old has won 17 Grand Slams in his career and has several records too.
That is a statement of his quality given that he is battling Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for titles. His rivals are also considered as two of the greatest ever but Djokovic has written his name in history too.
The Serb is the only one to have held all four Grand Slam titles at the same time. This happened between 2015 and 2016 after he won the French Open for the first time.
Djokovic had won the US Open and Wimbledon in 2015 and retained the Australian Open crown in 2016.
He then picked up his first French Open crown in 2016, and that was something that his mother took great pride in.
Dijana Djokovic was speaking to Sport Klub Tenis and shared her thoughts about this incredible feat:
“It was a long wait, so there was this 2015 against Wawrinka, also the year before that. It wasn’t his time, he was not ready yet.
“But that’s why he completed everything in 2016, he had all four Grand Slams in his hands at one point, which neither Federer nor Nadal did.
“So it’s really a matter of pride and joy that you have all these trophies and I like seeing them.”
Djokovic’s mother also spoke of the hardships they had to face when sending the star away as his tennis skills improved.
The Serbian is on the way to win more Grand Slams for sure, and it will be interesting to see if he overtakes Federer’s tally.
Federer has won 20 Slams while Nadal is just one behind. Djokovic is younger than the pair and looked in great shape in Australia.
He won his eighth Australian Open recently and could win more Slams in 2020.
