Novak Djokovic v Alexander Zverev is a semi-final at the Olympics 2020 tennis matches and here are the live stream details, preview, prediction and more
Novak Djokovic is just two games away from a first ever Olympic gold after swatting away Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-0 in the quarter-finals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Japanese was no match for the Serb, who is now unbeaten in 22 matches.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion is now only two wins away from creating history, after winning 3 Grand Slams earlier this year. With the US Open next month, Djokovic will hope to continue his form going into the final leg of the season.
German Alexander Zverev won 6-4, 6-1 against Jeremy Chardy in his quarter-final to set up a clash with the Serbian.
“Novak Djokovic’s records speak for themselves. He has won so many things, achieved numerous records and spent the most weeks as world no. 1. Still, he is hungry for more and determined to grab many more records; I think he won’t stop until he gets them all.”
I wish to see him for many more years on the Tour, although I would love to beat him a few more times,” Alexander Zverev said.
The two have faced each other 8 times, with Djokovic winning 6 times. Zverev won his biggest title of his career beating Novak Djokovic in the Nitto ATP Finals final 6-4, 6-1. Djokovic has since then recovered to win their next five meetings.
The last meeting came at the 2021 Australian Open quarter-final which the Serb ended up winning eventually. The ninth battle will be a crucial one considering what is on the line.
All eyes will be on the Serbian as he gears up to create history in Tokyo. Zverev will be wary of the threat and will have all of Germany watching him attempt a big upset.
The Olympics is being televised in 130 countries, till the 8th of August.
The channels on offer are— NBC USA, NBCSN, CNBC, Olympic Channel and Golf Channel and Peacock. India will be streaming the Olympics on Sony Ten channels in both SD and HD, apart from the app.
USA – NBC & Peacock TV
UK – BBC TV
India – Sony Liv
There is a chance of periodic rain, the first forecast which could be problematic at the venue. The weather for the first week has been remarkable from 31-35 degree Celsius. The wind speeds are going to increase as the tournaments goes on.
The match will hopefully get a clearer weather than predicted ahead of the clash of the World No. 1 and the NextGen top gun.
Djokovic was unstoppable in his match against Nishikori. The man seems to do no wrong this year and has only gone on to better his game in this season. Zverev, meanwhile, has not been consistent enough this season. In the Grand Slam, his best came in the final last year at the US Open losing to Dominic Thiem.
If Zverev gets going he can surely be a threat to any opponent. With that being said, Djokovic prevents his opponents from playing their game and keeps the points to his will. He has seen his serve percentage increase giving him a better chance at beating his opponents.
Prediction: Djokovic wins in straight sets
