Novak Djokovic vs Matteo Berretini is the final for the 2021 Wimbledon men’s tournament and here is the live stream details, preview, prediction and more
The final of the Gentleman’s singles has arrived as Italian Matteo Berretini faces World No.1 Novak Djokovic. The match could be a historic moment in the history of the sport as Djokovic looks to win his 20th Grand Slam in his career. If the Serb wins on Sunday, he will equal the record of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with most Grand Slams in the Open Era.
Berretini is in his first Grand Slam final and will be looking to spoil the celebrations with a shock win.
Djokovic beat a determined Dennis Shapovalov 7-6 (3) 7-5 7-5, to move to his 7th Wimbledon final. Berretini, meanwhile got rid of Federer’s conqueror Hubert Hurkacz in four sets.
Shapovalov was in tears after the loss to the Serbian. Djokovic in the post match interview said:
“I don’t think that the scoreline says enough about the performance and about the match. He was serving for the first set and he was probably the better player for most of the second set.”
“He had many chances and I would like to give him a big round of applause for everything that he has done today and these two weeks.”
The pair have met as recently as last month at the 2019 Roland Garros in the quarter-finals. Berretini put up a fight, but the Serb was too strong on his way to the Championship.
This time around, the situation is slightly different as Berretini won the Queens’ title prior to Wimbledon, while Djokovic played doubles in Mallorca.
The first between the meeting came at the season-ending 2019 Nitto ATP Finals, where Berretini was thrashed by Djokovic 6-2. 6-1.
The Championship this year are nearing the end as the finals of the men’s and women’s singles is set. The Centre Court is expected to be at full capacity, while millions watch from home. This is also an opportunity for an Italian double as Italy faces England in the final of Euro 2020, a few miles from the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

The chances of rain look very slim, which should give rise to a good atmosphere during the match without interruptions. Rains were a problem in the first week of the tournament, but has reduced in Week 2.
The humidity at 66%, could make the matchup a little tiresome for both players, with a wind at 14 km/h.
Berretini will have his work cut after seeing the World No. 1’s form the entire year. He has not slowed down on any surface and has performed on an incredible level. His win against Nadal on clay, showed that he is undoubtedly the best player in the world right now.
With Berretini having a stellar grass season, he will look to take advantage of the points and keep them to a minimum. In the pyschological battle, Djokovic looks in a league of his own. His will to come back from 2 sets down is staggering to watch. The Italian will know that he will have to keep his head throughout the match if he needs to pull out 3 sets off the Serb.
Djokovic is a win away from creating history and at this moment, it is highly unlikely that he is stopped. Sunday, 11 July 2021 may be the day that the history books are rewritten once again.
Prediction: Djokovic in 4 sets
