The official Xbox Podcast was unveiled earlier and gamers are anticipating what to expect from this gaming juggernaut.
On Thursday, February 15, Microsoft will provide the much-awaited report on the status of the Xbox business, including if Xbox exclusives will become multiplatform games. A post on X from the official Xbox account states that Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Sarah Bond, the president of Xbox, and Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, will provide updates on the Xbox business via a podcast.
XBOX Podcast Overview
Microsoft added that you may watch the “special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast” on YouTube or “wherever you listen to your podcasts” on Thursday. At 3 p.m. EST/12 p.m. PST on Thursday, the XBOX Podcast will go online.
Any corporation that announces something is usually hyping it up with eye-catching visuals and at least a hint of what exactly is being hinted at. In the meanwhile, this feels just like a funeral, and the fact that the reports from last week have not been denied suggests that at least part of them are real. The main idea here is that, yes, Xbox exclusives will be announced to be moving elsewhere on this XBOX Podcast. The holes that need to be filled in, though, are which ones, when, and what that means for exclusive policy moving ahead.
XBOX Podcast Background
Until recently, there was no hint that Xbox had an official podcast. To be clear, this podcast is not only audio-only; it also includes video content, which is why the YouTube link is included. In this episode, Phil, Matt, and Sarah are shown relaxing. What precisely are you doing?
Will they be debating this among themselves or will they only be alternating between making prepared remarks to the camera? We’ll see. You don’t often hear this many powerful CEOs just chit-chatting naturally, and considering the news we’re discussing today, no one would really expect that.
Hopefully, the heated speculations and reports that a number of Xbox-exclusive games, such as Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Starfield, would be making their way to PlayStation and Nintendo systems, will be addressed during Spencer, Bond, and Booty’s conversation. In a veiled response to the swarm of speculations last week, Spencer promised specifics regarding the future of the Xbox platform and brand in this XBOX Podcast.
There will apparently still be a hardware component to Xbox in the future. Spencer recently informed Microsoft employees in a town hall meeting that there are no plans to stop making Xbox consoles as part of a strategy that involves “multiple kinds of devices,” according to a report from the Updater newsletter.
XBOX Podcast Games Breakdown
Because of titles like Overwatch, Call of Duty, Diablo, and Minecraft that it has bought, Microsoft is already involved in the multiplatform gaming industry. However, it would be a significant shift from Xbox’s past if series like Halo, Gears of War, Forza, and Fable—which are usually associated with Xbox—were to make their way onto PlayStation and Nintendo platforms. On Thursday, we’ll learn more.
The incident occurred a few days after data-mined game materials suggested that Hi-Fi Rush will be released on the PS5 and Nintendo Switch earlier this month. This was in response to reports that both Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves would be coming to platforms other than Xbox One.
Additionally, there have been rumors that Starfield would arrive on the PS5, and The Verge revealed last week that Microsoft is thinking about releasing its next Indiana Jones game on the PS5. The Verge will be live-blogging Microsoft’s Thursday announcement to bring you up to date on all the latest Xbox news. Microsoft is now expected to reveal its precise plans.
