Huddersfield Town have done well by signing Jaden Brown

Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of England U19 international Jaden Brown from Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer (h/t Sky Sports). The 19-year-old left-back has signed a contract with the Terriers running until June of 2021, with the club having an option to extend the contract by one more year.

The youngster will initially join up with Huddersfield’s elite development squad and the England youth international seems like a valuable addition to the club (h/t Sky Sports). In fact, he is one of the most promising young full-backs around and stands a good chance of progressing to the next level with Terriers.

Brown was playing for Spurs’ U23 reserve squad and was a mainstay in the UEFA Youth League. He had three goals and three assists playing mostly as a full-back in all competitions. There don’t seem to be any indications as to why he left Tottenham, but we can probably guess that it has to do with future playing time.

Brown has been capped at every youth level by England from Under-16 up to Under-19 and has represented Spurs in all four of their Checkatrade trophy ties this season. He will surely be an important player for the Terriers in the future. He is a defensively-solid left-back who can also play his part in the attack at times.

At 19, he needs game time to develop and at Tottenham, the possibility of him getting into the team was bleak as he was not even the third choice left-back. At Huddersfield, however, he would get an opportunity to show his talent and test himself against the best in the Premier League.

Brown is still young and in Huddersfield, he has found a club where he can get regular game time. At Tottenham, he would have never gotten an opportunity so early.

At his age, it is important to get regular game time to improve physically as well as mentally. He is going to get a better chance of first-team football at Huddersfield and an opportunity to develop and test his skills against some of the best. In Brown, Huddersfield has signed a player who can turn out to be an important asset in the future. Hence, this is truly a great move by the club.
