The legendary Martina Navratilova is undoubtedly one of the most outspoken tennis players in the history of the sport.

Martina Navratilova often takes to social media to voice her opinions on certain topics. The 65-year-old recently lashed out at GOP Senate nominee Don Bolduc for criticizing Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) for her strong views on the abortion issue.

Now, the multiple-time Grand Slam winner has now voiced her opinion on Twitter regarding the ongoing hijab controversy in Iran. The Czech-American former tennis player compared the people forcing women to wear a hijab to the ones forcing women to carry their child to term, referring to the issues of abortion rights. She minced no words and wrote that both were “wrong”. In her tweet, she wrote:

“Indeed. Same people who think it’s wrong to force women to wear a hijab think it’s ok to force women to carry a child to term …. They are both wrong and are about one thing and thing only- control and oppression of women. Period.”

We often compare players from different generations in sports. However, we do not take into account several other factors. Tennis players nowadays play a vastly different brand compared to the ones that hung up their boots several years ago.

A fan on Twitter gave reasons as to why he felt that Navratilova was the real goat in women’s tennis and not Serena Williams. However, the legendary player said that comparing different eras is “silly”. The tweet from the fan can be seen below:

Navratilova saw this tweet and replied:

“You could be right on that, I don’t know. I think it is human nature to think what we have now is the best, period. Comparing eras is just silly IMO. If Alcaraz were born 50 years earlier, he would not have played the same way he plays now. But thank you in any case:)”

We just feel that the luckiest are the ones who have seen both players at their respective peaks.
