Second seed Aliaksandra Sasnovich locks horns with Russian teenager Erika Andreeva in the round of 32 of the Open de Limoges on Tuesday.
The Belarusian athlete began the season on a bright note by finishing runner-up at the Gippsland Trophy. She reached the fourth round of the French Open this year for the first time in her career. In the Tennis in the Land tournament, Sasnovich made it to the final and lost to Liudmila Samsonova. The 28-year-old also made it to the quarterfinals in the St. Petersburg Open, the Berlin Open, and the German Open.
Sasnovich most recently played in the Guadalajara Open in October. She was ousted in the round of 64 by Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in straight sets. Sasnovich will look to get some matches under her belt as she prepares for the 2023 Australian Open.
The youngster reached the final in an ITF event in Spain in May. She was ousted by second seed Wang Xinyu. She has not reached any other final this year so far. Andreeva’s WTA Tour debut happened this year at the Ladies Open Lausanne after progressing from the qualifiers. She won her first match at the WTA Tour level against Anna Blinkova in the first round of the Ladies Open Lausanne. Andreeva also made her Grand Slam debut this year at the US Open, winning three qualifying matches to reach the main draw.
Andreeva also played her most recent match in October. She lost in the semifinals of an ITF event in Spain against second seed Jasmine Paolini.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Erika Andreeva have not faced each other as yet and therefore the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Aliaksandra Sasnovich to win in straight sets.
