Fourth seed Ana Bogdan squares off against America’s Katrina Scott in the round of 16 of the Open de Limoges on Tuesday.
Ana Bogdan
Last year’s runner-up Ana Bogdan began her campaign in Limoges with a comprehensive win against Italy’s Lucrezia Stefanini in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Bogdan’s serve proved to be her best friend as she had a win percentage of 79 on the first serve.
The 30-year-old Romanian came into the tournament after being ousted by Jule Niemeier in the first round at the WTA Transylvania Open in Cluj in October. Bogdan’s best result came at the Poland Open earlier in the year. She made it to the final where she lost to Caroline Garcia. Bogdan also made her top 50 debut this year. Bogdan will hope to get some good match practice ahead of the 2023 Australian Open.
Katrina Scott
The American teenager lost in the round of 32 at the recently-concluded WTA Angers Arena Loire Open. She was ousted by second seed Anhelina Kalinina in straight sets.
In the round of 32 in Limoges, Scott faced Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova. The teenager pulled off a thumping win against Makarova in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Interestingly, Scott’s win percentage on the first serve was also 79. Scott will have to bring her A-game against her upcoming opponent who has a huge edge in terms of experience.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
Ana Bogdan and Katrina Scott have never faced each other as yet. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Ana Bogdan to win in straight sets.
