The 2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova will lock horns with an upbeat Alycia Parks in the quarter-finals of the Ostrava Open.
The world No. 23 came into the Ostrava Open on the back of a triumphant campaign at the Tallinn Open where she won her first title of the year after defeating Anett Kontaveit in the final.
The 26-year-old began her campaign in Ostrava with a comprehensive win against Shelby Rogers. Krejcikova won the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. She was set to face Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 but the world No. 14 pulled out of the tournament prior to the match citing a left foot injury.
The American qualifier has been on a roll in the tournament thus far. She failed to progress to the main draw of the recently-concluded Parma Open but has looked in tremendous touch at the Ostrava Open.
The 21-year-old won her two qualifying matches against Oksana Selekhmeteva and Anna-Lena Friedsam in straight sets. In the first round of the main draw, Parks shocked the world with a brilliant performance against former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova. Parks bageled the veteran in the first set and eventually won the match 6-0, 7-6 (7-3). In the round of 16, Parks produced another monumental upset as she defeated world No. 7 Maria Sakkari 5-7, 7-5, 7-5. By virtue of the win, the youngster has reached her first tour-level quarterfinal.
The head-to-head currently stands at 0-0 as Barbora Krejcikova and Alycia Parks have not faced each other before.
Prediction: Barbora Krejcikova to win in three sets.
