Former WWE women’s champion Paige wants AJ Lee to return after CM Punk’s visit on Backstage.
Lee and Punk have been married for a few years, but both haven’t wrestled since leaving the WWE.
Punk shocked the WWE Universe as he made his way to the stage during the closing moments of the show.
Renee Young, Booker T and several WWE stars were left excited seeing the return of the former champion.
Punk left the WWE nearly six years ago and Lee left the company nearly a year after her husband left.
A fan tweeted a clip of Lee during a WWE show and Paige wanted the former Divas champion back on the show.
Lee and Paige had a huge rivalry in the WWE but were part of a tag team during their wrestling days.
Punk’s return to WWE was a huge surprise, given that he was involved in a lawsuit with the company too.
However, there is no denying that the 41-year-old was one of the best during his time in the business. Punk was also great on the microphone and the WWE could use some of that now.
There is no set date for his in-ring return and will feature on WWE Backstage regularly.
The wife of CM Punk left WWE after suddenly retiring but was one of the best in the ring.
Lee won the Divas title thrice and retired four years ago when she was just 28.
Some reports suggested that the strain between WWE and CM Punk was one reason why she chose to leave the company (h/t Bleacher Report).
However, the former champion commented on her future at FS1’s Fair Game and didn’t close her wrestling chapter:
The return of Punk and Lee for in-ring action would be amazing, and they could dominate WWE once again.
Both were excellent during their times in the business and could draw crowds due to their abilities.
The pair have tried out other media as well with Punk writing Marvel comics and also trying his hand in MMA.
Lee, for her part, has featured in several movies and her latest flick was ‘Rabid’ which also featured Punk.
The former Divas champion also wrote her memoir in 2017 and also co-wrote the comic series GLOW which was based on the popular Netflix show (h/t Hollywood Reporter).
