The 3-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray begins his Paris Masters campaign against the former world No. 6 Gilles Simon on Monday.

The legendary player has had a topsy-turvy season thus far. He has not managed to win a title but he did reach a couple of finals in Sydney and Stuttgart where he lost to Aslan Karatsev and Matteo Berrettini, respectively. He has won 25 out of the 42 matches he played this season.

Murray most recently played in the Basel Open. After defeating Roman Safiullin in the first round, the Brit failed to get past the Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut in the round of 16. Last year at the Paris Masters, Murray lost in the first round against Dominik Koepfer in three sets.

Gilles Simon

The Frenchman is playing in the last tournament of his career. He will look to go out on a high. The 37-year-old has mostly played in Challenger events this season. Simon’s best result in 2022 came at the French Open, where he made it to the third round. He was ousted by the eventual semifinalist Marin Cilic.

On the ATP Tour, Simon most recently played in the Moselle Open in Metz. He defeated David Goffin in the first round before losing to Lorenzo Sonego in the round of 16.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 16-2 in favor of Murray. He won their most recent encounter in the 2016 Vienna Open in three sets.
