Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic have dominated their way into the semifinals of the Paris Masters. They will be facing each other for the third time this season.
The defending champion received a first-round bye and faced Maxime Cressy in the round of 32. Djokovic had to dig deep to win the first set but closed out the match in the second set with relative ease. In the round of 16, Djokovic got the better of Karen Khachanov in a one-sided affair. The match ended 6-4, 6-1 in favor of the veteran.
Promising Italian youngsters – Lorenzo Musetti took on the 21-time Grand Slam champion in the quarterfinals. Djokovic bageled the 20-year-old in the first set. Musetti did manage to break Djokovic’s service in the first game, but following that, he was always behind the eight ball. The match eventually ended 6-0, 6-3 in favor of the experienced campaigner.
The Greek sensation also received a bye in the first round. In the second round, he comprehensively defeated British veteran Dan Evans. In the round of 16, Tsitsipas got the better of Corentin Moutet in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
In the quarterfinals, Tsitsipas faced a confident Tommy Paul, who had ousted Rafael Nadal in the round of 32. It could have been a tricky affair for Tsitsipas but the 24-year-old won the match with ease in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 8-2 in favor of Novak Djokovic. He defeated Tsitsipas in their most recent encounter at the Astana Open final in straight sets.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in three sets.
