World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on the confident Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters on Friday.
The Greek star has been at his dominant best so far in the competition. He has not dropped a set so far in the competition.
Tsitsipas was awarded a bye in the first round. He began his campaign against the British No. 2 – Dan Evans. The fifth seed won the match comfortably in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. In the round of 16, Tsitsipas won the first set against French qualifier Corentin Moutet quite convincingly. Moutet was much more competitive in the second set but could not push the match into the third set. Tsitsipas won 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
The American tennis pro managed to pull off the biggest upset of the campaign so far. He has defeated three Spaniards en route to the quarterfinals.
Paul began his campaign in Bercy against Roberto Bautista Agut. The former produced a solid display to win the match 6-4, 6-4. In the round of 32, Paul achieved the biggest victory in his career as he ousted Rafael Nadal in three sets. The 22-time Grand Slam champion won the first set convincingly but Paul bounced back strongly to win 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. In the round of 16, Paul got the better of Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 2-0 in favor of Tsitsipas. He won their previous encounter at the 2021 Lyon Open in straight sets.
