Pat McAfee vs Adam Cole stole the show at NXT TakeOver: XXX
Adam Cole vs Pat McAfee wasn’t supposed to go as it did at TakeOver: XXX. McAfee had no WWE experience coming into this clash but proved to be a worthy adversary to Cole.
While Cole got the win in the end, McAfee stole the show. TakeOver had some great moments too and here are the hits and misses from the special.
Keith Lee vs Karrion Kross was a great match but the result wasn’t all that great. Lee had only won the title a couple of months back and Kross had been given a crazy push ever since he joined WWE.
There is no doubting his quality, it’s just that the title might have come too early in his NXT career. Lee should have kept the crown a little longer but it is what it is.
However, things could change again given that Kross picked up a serious shoulder injury despite winning the title.
Finn Balor vs Timothy Thatcher was a good match with two distinct styles going at it. While it was Balor who got the win despite Thatcher using a ton of submission moves, there were many moments in the match which didn’t click.
That could have been due to the differing styles of the stars, but there was something that just wasn’t right in the match.
Thatcher put on a great show again, and it will be interesting to see what is next for Balor.
McAfee had several fantastic moments in this clash and came close to winning against Cole too.
WWE has tried many celebrity matches but this was one of the best ever. It could have passed off as a regular NXT match too, that’s how good McAfee was on the night.
The former NFL star also had some incredible high-flying moves too, and credit has to be handed to him.
McAfee is a natural athlete but for this night, he was more than a match for Cole.
NXT knows how to do big matches, and they proved that with the North American title Ladder Match.
Five men tried to get their hands on the title and it was absolute chaos from the first minute. Every star had a chance to win the title and even Candice LeRae tried to help Johnny Gargano get the gold.
In the end, it was Damian Priest who got the gold but anyone could have won it. The match was the real winner though and was possibly the best match of the evening.
With Io Shirai battling Dakota Kai and keeping her title, there was a slot for Rhea Ripley to try and win the crown later on.
However, the Nightmare seems to be involved in a new battle with Raquel Gonzalez. Gonzalez is a behemoth in the NXT ring and not many female stars can compete with her.
However, Ripley is the perfect person to battle Gonzalez and it will be interesting to see how she does against the former NXT women’s champion.
