At BAMMA 23, Paul Craig defeated Marcin Lazarz by submission to win the BAMMA World Light Heavyweight Championship. The fight was scheduled to take place in Dublin against Chris Fields, but it was postponed as a result of the passing of Portuguese boxer Joao Carvalho. Craig injured his ankle ligaments, forcing the rescheduled match to be called off. Because Craig agreed to a four-fight contract with the UFC, he was unable to defend the championship.
